Where a 1 Ton goods lift is the right fit
One Ton suits single-pallet movement, retail and showroom stock, workshop tooling, cartons and light drums. It typically allows a smaller platform, a lighter guide structure and a smaller power pack, which keeps both the capital cost and the civil opening down.
If your material rarely exceeds 700–800 kg per trip, a 1 Ton lift with a well-chosen platform size is usually the more sensible investment.
Where 2 Ton earns its cost
Two Ton makes sense when loads are consistently heavy, when a forklift or heavy pallet truck enters the platform, when two pallets are moved together, or when bagged and bulk material is stacked on the deck.
It is also worth considering if your product mix is likely to get heavier within the life of the building — uprating a lift later is usually more expensive than specifying correctly now.
What changes between the two
Expect a heavier platform frame and deck, larger guide rails and brackets, a higher-rated drive, a larger electrical supply and typically a wider shaft. Foundation and floor loading at the pit also increase.
Cycle time can differ too: a larger hydraulic system may need a bigger pump to keep travel speed comparable.
The practical recommendation
Size the platform to the largest object you handle and the capacity to the heaviest realistic load plus the handling equipment, then add a sensible margin rather than doubling the rating out of caution.
Share your load list with our engineers and we will recommend a capacity with reasoning. Final configuration is subject to site conditions and engineering assessment.
